Blog & News: Samsung's rise to the top in a neat infographic

I remember the times when Samsung was just a new comer in the market with its feature phones in the form of clamshells and sliders. Those days everyone used to go in for a Nokia, for its durability or a Sony Ericsson its elegant live wallpapers and ringtones and also their cool designs. Samsung was a phone that was rarely bought.

The next thing I remember was the introduction of Samsung Star and LG, its Cookie. They both were touch screens and Samsung had its TouchWiz UI running on top. Those two phones were the boom of touch screen technology as many affordable models with 3G as a huge selling point came in.

On November 6th 2007, the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), a consortium of 84 firms was established including guess who; Google (spear headed the consortium), HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony, Dell, Intel, Motorola, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and a few others. The OHA was formed in the aim to develop open standards for mobile devices and competed against Apple, Microsoft, Nokia (Symbian), HP and Samsung’s Bada OS.

This was the same day Android unveiled itself to the world as a product. The rest, as they say, is history! Saumsung sling shot itself to glory with its adoption of Android and look where they are now; the top of the smartphone food chain!

Check out the below infographic of Samsung's way to victory made by the Dutch site, typhone.nl
